BL.INK now offers a streamlined way to import links in bulk using Link Templates. This feature enhances consistency and efficiency by allowing users to apply predefined templates during the import process, ensuring that every link and QR code is properly structured and trackable.
This is especially useful for teams managing large-scale campaigns or needing to enforce standardized link attributes across multiple users.
What are Link Templates?
Link Templates in BL.INK allow admin users to define a set of required and optional attributes for link creation. These templates can include:
- Required fields for link creation (e.g., Long URL, Campaign Name)
- Available QR code templates
- Redirect types
- Other custom attributes
Templates ensure that all links created follow a consistent structure, improving data quality and simplifying analytics.
How to Import Links Using a Link Template
1. Download a Sample Import File
To begin, start by logging in to BLINK. From the Links table, click Import at the top of the table to open the Import drawer.
At the top of the drawer, click Download Template.
This will open a drop-down with all of the Link Templates on the account. Select the Link Template you want to use. The sample file will download automatically.
2. Prepare your Import File
Open the downloaded file in your preferred spreadsheet software (Excel, Google Sheets, etc.).
CAUTION:
If you are creating new links, delete the BLINK ID column before saving. This field is only required when overwriting existing links.
Once you have added your links and their required attributes, save your file to your device as a .csv or .xls file.
3. Upload your File
Return to the Import drawer in BL.INK. Above the upload section, select the Link Template you are using by clicking on the arrow next to Blank Template. Choose the appropriate template from the list.
Drag and drop your file into the drawer or click to upload it from your device. Click Import to proceed.
4. Map Fields and Preview
From the Field Mapping page, confirm that all of your attributes are correctly mapped. Then click Preview to review your import.
Use the checkboxes at the top to:
- Indicate if your file contains a header row
- Show only invalid rows
- Overwrite existing rows (if applicable)
Review any errors and make corrections directly in the preview view if needed. Once everything looks correct, click Import to proceed with importing your links.
