Creating Custom Attributes in BLINK Enterprise

BLINK's custom attributes feature enhances your marketing insights by allowing enterprise users to create and apply unlimited custom tags to their links and QR codes. This powerful tool ensures consistency and deepens analytical capabilities across your campaigns, integrating seamlessly with other analytics platforms.

Creating Custom Attributes

To create a new custom attribute, start by logging in to BLINK.

In the left navigation, click on Admin > Attributes

NOTE:

In order to create custom attributes, you must be a domain admin or account admin.

Here, you will see a list of all existing attributes on the account. In the upper right, click on the New Attribute button.

This will open the New Attribute drawer on the right side of the page.

In the Settings tab, select the Attribute Type. BLINK offers the following attribute types:

System
System attributes are the standard link details that are automatically applied to all links. These are not editable attributes.
Picklist
Picklist attributes allow an admin to configure multiple values. When creating a link with a picklist attribute, users can select one value from the drop-down list.
Text
When creating a link with a text attribute, users can enter custom text in a blank text field.
Currency
When creating a link with a currency attribute, users can select a currency from the drop-down list.
Checkbox
Checkbox attributes allow an admin to configure multiple values. When creating a link with a checkbox attribute, users can select one or more values from a drop-down list.
Number
When creating a link with a number attribute, users can enter a numeric value in the text field.
Date
When creating a link with a date attribute, users can select a date from a calendar picker.

Then enter the Attribute Label (the name of the attribute), and an optional description. If you have selected a text, currency, number, or date attribute, you may click Save now to save the new attribute.

If you selected a Picklist or Checkbox attribute type, click on the Values tab to enter the values for the new attribute.

You have the option to import a CSV file with the attribute values and keys or to manually add the values. To import the values, click on the down arrow to expand the import.

Here, you can drag and drop your file or click to upload the file from your computer.

Once your file has been selected, the values will immediately begin importing below.

To manually add the attribute values, click on the + Add Value button.

Enter the Value Label and Value Key.

Value Label is what will appear when your users are creating their links within the BLINK account. Value key is what will be used when users are creating links using the API.

Once you have entered all of your values, click Save

Editing Attributes and Attribute Values

To edit an existing attribute or attribute value, start by logging in to BLINK.

Click Admin > Attributes from the left navigation. Here, you may use the search and filtering options to find the attribute from the list. Click on the attribute to open the Edit Attribute drawer on the right side of the page.

Here, you may edit the attribute label or description, or (if it's a picklist or checkbox attribute), you may click on the Values tab to manage existing values or add new values.

NOTE:

Changes made to an attribute or attribute value are not automatically applied to existing links. If you are making changes to existing attributes, you will need to manually update any existing links using the attribute or attribute values that have been edited.

Click Save to save your changes.

Deleting Attributes and Attribute Values

To delete a single attribute, start by logging in to BLINK.

Click on Admin > Attributes from the left navigation. From this page, use the search and filtering options to find the attribute. Click on the attribute to open the Edit Attribute drawer on the right.

Click on the three dots in the upper right of the drawer, and then click Delete Attribute.

A pop-up will appear to confirm the attribute deletion. Click the Delete button to proceed.

NOTE:

Deleting an attribute is permanent, and cannot be undone. Please delete with caution. Additionally, deleting an attribute will automatically impact existing links. Any links using a deleted attribute will automatically update and the link will no longer include the deleted attribute.

To delete an attribute value, click on the associated attribute from the Attributes list. In the Edit Attribute drawer, click on the Values tab.

Find the value in the list, and click on the garbage icon in the upper right.

A pop-up will appear to confirm the value deletion. Click Delete to proceed.

NOTE:

Deleting a value is permanent and cannot be undone. Please delete with caution. Existing links using this value will not automatically update with the deletion, however, if they are edited in the future, the value will be removed at the time the link is edited.
