Contact Verification for a New Domain with BL.INK

When a domain is registered, ICANN requires that the contact information be verified within 15 days of the acquisition or the domain will be suspended.

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is a non-profit organization that manages the Domain Name System (DNS).

Verifying Domain Contact Information for a BL.INK Domain

According to the Whois Accuracy Program Specification of the 2013 Registrar Accreditation Agreement, ICANN requires that all domain contact information be verified upon acquisition, purchase, or transfer of a domain name.

Basically, this is in place to ensure that domain contact information is accurate and up to date.

When registering a domain name through BL.INK, a contact verification email will be sent to the email address used to create the BL.INK account.

The email will come from BL.INK’s partner, Name.com (noreply@name.com). The subject line will read “Your requested validation information”.

Once the email is received, click the button in the email to verify the email address.

If the contact email address is not verified within 15 days from the date the domain was acquired, ICANN will place a hold on the domain name and point the domain to a page showing the domain name has been suspended. BL.INK links created with this domain will not redirect as expected.

To fix this situation, users may request that the email be sent again by navigating to the domain in a browser and clicking the link on the ICANN verification page to resend the email.

After the contact information has been successfully verified, the links will redirect again within 24 hours.
