Blocking or Excluding an IP Address

For a variety of reasons, there are times when users may wish to omit certain traffic from Analytics. BL.INK has you covered.

With just a few clicks, users can easily exclude any IP address from all future reporting.

Start by logging in to the BL.INK account. Click Admin > IP Exclusions. From here, users can view, manage, or add IP addresses to the IP exclusion list.

To add a new IP address to your IP Exclusions list, click the New IP Address button. The New IP Exclusion drawer will open on the right.

Add the IP address (ex.192.158.1.38) and select the domain(s) from which you want to exclude the IP address.

You may also block an IP address for a selected time period by using the Blocked Until field where you may select a date. After the selected date, traffic from the IP address will start to be recorded in your analytics.

If there is no Blocked Until date selected, the IP address will be omitted from all future traffic statistics.

NOTE:

When the click originally enters the BLINK system, it will be visible in the Analytics temporarily. A process that runs every few minutes analyzes each click. If the IP address is on the IP Exclusions list, it will be removed during this process. This can be confusing during testing when traffic is initially coming from an excluded IP. It will disappear from click analytics within a few minutes.

Deleting an IP Exclusion

From the IP exclusions page, you can manage any IP addresses that have previously been added to the exclusion list.

To unblock an IP address that was previously blocked, simply find the IP address in the list and click on the row to open the Edit IP Exclusion drawer. Click on the three dots in the upper left and click Delete IP Exclusion.

You may also delete IP Exclusions in bulk. To delete more than one IP Exclusion, navigate to Admin > IP Exclusion. Click on the checkboxes to the left of the IP address you wish to block. Once you have selected the IP addresses, click Delete.

A pop-up will appear to confirm the number of IP addresses you are deleting.

Type in the number, then click Delete.
